Essential Skills for Career Success

This training is designed to equip participants with the essential communication skills needed to succeed in today’s diverse and technology-driven workplace. Through practical, hands-on activities and real-world examples, participants will develop professional written and verbal communication skills, including effective email communication, workplace messaging, meeting participation, and presentation fundamentals. The course emphasizes professionalism, clarity, and adaptability when communicating with supervisors, colleagues, and customers across industries.

Participants will also explore communication strategies for teamwork, conflict resolution, and inclusive workplace interactions. Special attention is given to digital etiquette, virtual communication, and cross-cultural communication to ensure participants can navigate modern workplace environments with confidence. This course is ideal for entry-level employees, career changers, students transitioning into the workforce, and professionals seeking to strengthen their communication skills for career advancement.

Student Learning Outcomes:

  • Demonstrate professional written communication skills by composing clear, concise, and appropriate workplace emails, messages, and documents.
  • Apply effective verbal communication techniques in meetings, presentations, and one-on-one workplace interactions.
  • Use digital and virtual communication tools professionally, demonstrating appropriate etiquette and best practices in online and hybrid work environments.
  • Adapt communication styles to diverse audiences, including supervisors, colleagues, customers, and individuals from different cultural and generational backgrounds.
  • Manage workplace misunderstandings and conflict constructively using professional communication strategies that support collaboration and problem-solving.

She is currently pursuing a Doctorate in Higher Education Leadership at Maryville University. Boby holds three master’s degrees and two bachelor’s degrees, and was awarded the prestigious Presidential Gold Medal for achieving first-class honors in her first graduate program.

With six years of teaching experience in both the United States and Bangladesh, she has also worked in the corporate sector, including a role at John Deere. Her academic interests include leadership and gender, international business law, entrepreneurship, and higher education development.
In 2025, Boby was selected for the inaugural New York State Association for Career and Technical Education (NYSACTE) Postsecondary State CTE Leaders Fellowship, joining 15 leaders from across New York State. An active workshop and conference presenter, she is fluent in four languages, a former member of Junior Chamber International (JCI), and an avid traveler who enjoys learning about diverse cultures and cuisines.
